My wife snapped the photo on the top, of me and I took the engagement photo the same day! I have been dreaming about these photographs for a while and I am glad that we had time to take them!

Photo tip: It never hurts to dream. Photographers do you ever catch yourself dreaming about the perfect shot?  Of course you do!  I love the fact that I can pre-visualize a photograph, like these two, a year, a week, months, or in the moment!! There are a number of ways to accomplish previsualization, but mostly it comes down to training your eye, scouting for locations and knowing your photographic equipment.

After an engagement session on Saturday I saw them taking off this advertisement. This made me want to know the history of the building, which is below:  Brick Bar, this building was built on the riverfront in 1925 and was used as a fish house, processing facility for several years.  The building then sat vacant for many years and was finally re-opened in 1946 as the Dew-Drop Inn Restaurant.  Over the next few decades the building was used as a restaurant under various names including in 1966, the Bay Café.  The building was purchased in 1988 by Peter Schmid, who opened Peter’s LaCuisine, a fine dining restaurant with the 3rd floor Brick Bar featuring live entertainment.  In 1998 the rooftop was converted to the Sky Bar. Peter’s LaCuisine, the Brick Bar, and the Sky Bar closed in early 2002. Now there is The Firestone - Grille, Martini Bar & SkyBar going in!! http://www.myriverdistrict.com

Photo tip: Aperture priority mode lets you adjust the aperture.  Adjusting aperture changes your Depth of Field. A short depth of field, which would be caused by a large aperture (f/1.8) will be clearly focused on a relatively shallow area, like in these photographs. Go a step forward & pick a perfect background. Once you train your eye to see all of the possibilities your photographs will really start to stand out!!

If there’s such a thing as a typical path to becoming an artist, Brandon Stanton didn’t take it. No art school. No photography classes. No dropping out of college. Instead, the 28-year-old Georgia native landed a job as a bond trader in Chicago after betting $3,000 in student loans that Barack Obama would win the 2008 Democratic nomination. When he was later fired from the trading gig during the recession, he took another gamble: street photography. “I enjoy taking risks, whether it be trading bonds or moving to New York and stopping strangers on the street,” says the creator of Humans of New York.

Did you know? Burrowing Owl hunts for small rodents at night. They live on the ground and nest in burrows.  The Burrowing Owl has excellent vision and hearing for capturing prey. The adults take turns standing guard near the nest burrows. They are active both day and night, especially during the breeding season.

The studio in downtown Fort Myers is coming together! New widows are up and I love how they turned out! What do you think?
